Who We Are

Open Ended Games, INC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the VsD: Against the Darkmaster character management platform. We are based in the United States.

What We Collect and Why

Account credentials

When you create an account, we store your username and a hashed (encrypted) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text. We use this to authenticate you when you log in.

Email address

We collect your email address when you create an account. We use it for:

Password reset
Essential account and service communications related to your account or the beta program

Your email address is not used for marketing without your explicit consent. During registration, you may optionally opt in to receive product updates and beta announcements. If you opt in, your email is managed through our mailing platform and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time by clicking that link or contacting us at info@openendedgames.com.

Real name (optional)

If you choose to enter your real name in your profile or character data, we store it as part of your account. This is entirely optional — the platform works without it.

Character data

We store all character data you create or save — including character names, stats, skills, equipment, and any other information you enter into the character sheet. We store this so you can access and edit your characters across sessions.

Discord account ID

If you choose to link your Discord account, we store your Discord user ID and username. This is used to connect your characters to the Darkmaster Discord bot so you can roll dice and reference your character in Discord. This is entirely optional.

Session cookie

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie contains no personal information — it is a random token that expires when your session ends or after 24 hours. No tracking cookies are used.

Server logs

Our server automatically records basic request logs: IP address, timestamp, and which page was accessed. These are used for debugging and security monitoring, are retained for up to 30 days, and are not shared with third parties.

Aggregate analytics

We collect anonymous aggregate statistics about character trends (e.g., how many characters are of a given kin or vocation). This data is not linked to any individual user.

What We Do Not Collect

Real names or addresses — unless you choose to enter them
Payment information
Precise location data beyond IP address in server logs
Third-party tracking or advertising data
Data from Google Analytics, ad pixels, or any third-party analytics scripts

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal data with third parties, with two exceptions:

Discord — if you link your Discord account, your character data is made available to the Darkmaster Discord bot to respond to roll commands. This data stays within our systems; we only exchange your Discord user ID when establishing the link.

Mailing platform — if you opt in to marketing communications, your email address is stored with our mailing service provider for the purpose of sending those communications. You can unsubscribe at any time.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all associated data — credentials, email address, character data, and Discord link — is permanently deleted from our systems.

Server logs are retained for up to 30 days. If you have opted in to our mailing list, your email will be removed from that list within a reasonable time following account deletion or unsubscribe request.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
Correction — update your character data at any time through the app
Deletion — delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app
Export — download your character data at any time through the app
Unsubscribe — opt out of marketing emails at any time

To exercise any of these rights, use the controls in the app or contact us at info@openendedgames.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

This platform is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at info@openendedgames.com and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we will notify you via email if you have provided one.
